Why join - What’s On Your Plate certification
As a food professional, you’ll be aware of the public’s growing interest in the provenance of food and the trend towards healthier eating. Traceability, ethical farming, fair trade, food miles and sustainability are becoming more and more important to consumers. Food businesses that address these issues will gain market advantage over non-certified businesses. The Fair Food Foundation accreditation scheme, known as What’s on Your Plate? has been established to become a widely recognised and trusted stamp of approval. This instantly recognisable symbol will ensure that when they are eating out or buying food, people can dine with confidence in the knowledge that recipes and working practices comply with The Fair Food Foundation’s criteria concerning disclosure and provenance of ingredients. Who can apply? Caterers, restaurants, pubs, bars, delicatessens, farm shops, specialist food shops and bakeries can all be approved as members of the scheme. How much does it cost to join? When the scheme is launched later this year each member will be expected to contribute an annual membership fee.
What do I have to do to become a member? Membership couldn’t be simpler. All you have to do is take the What’s on your plate? pledge and promise to abide by these five simple principles wherever possible.
Application will be through an online process later this year. What will you get for the annual licence fee?
